Registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960, the Academy for Indian Horticulture is a national body of scientists, farmers, students and institutions devoted to horticultural progress.

How the Academy is run

Administration and management vest in an Executive Committee of office bearers and members, elected by the General Body.

President

Overall in-charge of the Academy and its General Body meetings. Policies and programmes are formulated and implemented through the President, in consultation with the Executive Committee.

Vice President

Assists the President in general, and assumes the President's charge in their absence.

Secretary

Convenes all meetings, maintains minutes and records, serves as correspondent, and is custodian of the Academy's articles and property. Files annual records with the Registrar of Societies, Bangalore.

Treasurer

Custodian of funds, investments and accounts. Prepares the annual balance sheet of income and expenditure for presentation to the General Body.

Committee Members

Participate in meetings and join the office bearers in arriving at decisions of the Executive Committee.

Elections

Members standing for the Council must have been members for at least 12 months. President and Secretary serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.
