Both Indian and foreign applicants are eligible to apply for membership.
Four categories, each with its own eligibility and privileges — for individuals, students, farmers, institutions and patrons, in India and abroad.
* Life, Patron and Corporate membership are extended by invitation only, to carefully evaluated and selected individuals and organisations. Life Membership is reserved for horticultural scientists, experts and individuals dedicated to horticultural knowledge and experience; those who wish to be considered may send an expression of interest, and the Council will extend an invitation where appropriate. Payment is made only after an invitation is received. Fees are subject to revision on the recommendation of the Executive Committee and approval of the General Body.

Applicants should have a genuine interest in promoting research, education or the overall development of horticulture and allied sciences.
The annual subscription accompanies the application. Life, Patron and Corporate fees are payable only after an invitation from the Council.
Fill in the prescribed application form and send it via the Secretary / Treasurer of AIH, along with the payment.
Subscriptions run per calendar year and fall due on 1st January. Pay by 31st March to retain voting, office-holding and other privileges for that year.
Members receive Academy publications free of cost or at concessional rates, and may present papers at seminars, symposia and scientific conferences.
Lapsed members may rejoin within the same year without a fresh admission fee (without voting rights that year). After 31st December, rejoining requires the admission fee again.
Members may resign by writing to the President or Secretary. Fees paid in advance are not refundable, and rejoining is treated as new membership.
